Join FOGFLP volunteers and local naturalists for a guided walk through some of the park's beech groves.
These magnificent trees, known for their smooth gray bark, intricate exposed roots, and beautiful fall foliage, are an important part of our forest ecosystem—but they are facing a growing threat from beech leaf disease.
Along the way, we'll search for beech seedlings, look for beechdrops—a curious native plant that depends on beech roots for survival—and other signs of a changing woodland.
This is an opportunity to appreciate these remarkable trees, learn about the importance of forest conservation, and discover a lesser-explored section of Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park. Whether you're a longtime park visitor or exploring these trails for the first time, come enjoy the fall colors and learn more about the natural wonders growing right here in Baltimore.
Register now, and we'll send you the meet up time and exact spot closer to the event.
